Winter Internship

The AWeSOMe! Winter Internship offers hands-on professional learning experience in adaptive snow sports instruction and outdoor education. Interns will teach adaptive alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding to individuals with a wide range of disabilities, while gaining insight into non-profit operations, adaptive recreation, and community living.

Interns will live at the University of Idaho, McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS) field campus. The intern will participate in training and support daily operations alongside AWeSOMe! staff members and volunteer instructors.

 

Internship Purpose

The internship program is designed to provide emerging professionals   with in-depth, practical experience in adaptive recreation. Interns are supervised by the Executive Director, Program Director, and Non-Profit Management Volunteer.

  • $200/month stipend
  • Housing and meals provided (University of Idaho, MOSS meal plan available)

Intern Responsibilities

  • Teach adaptive snow sports
  • Become familiar with adaptive ski equipment and its uses during an adaptive ski lesson.
  • Conduct student assessments and design lessons accordingly
  • Document goals, progress, and daily notes for each lesson
  • Build a rapport with students, their care providers, volunteers, and staff
  • Progress towards leading lessons independently
