Move United, an affiliate of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and a national leader in sports and recreation for individuals with disabilities is seeking someone preferably with experience working with Veterans with disabilities to fill the position of Member Services Coordinator to support its Warfighters and Warfighters Ambassador Program. Internship Position Overview:
- An internship with Move United provides the opportunity to gain knowledge and professional experience in adaptive sports, sports management, events management, and other related fields while helping Move United lead a movement so that no one is left on the sidelines, and everyone gets to play.
- The Competition Intern will learn about planning, implementing, and evaluating a large-scale national championship along with a nationwide network of Sanctioned Competitions.
- The Competition Intern will work with the Competition Department of Move United and the Michigan-based Local Organizing Committee of The Hartford Nationals.
- This internship will provide the opportunity for education and growth in adaptive sports, nonprofit management, event management, volunteer management, marketing and communications, sponsor/vendor relations, and program development.
- The Competition Intern reports to the Competition Manager – Administration.
Sample Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development of the competition network with the creation of tools and Learning Management System modules and outreach and communication plans.
- Assist with various aspects of event planning for The Hartford Nationals including administration and registration, marketing and communications, vendor and sponsor relations, logistics and event production, hospitality, human resource management, and sport operations; and offer ideas to enhance onsite experiences.
- Assist Move United staff in elevating and promoting the Competition network and organization.
Internship period:
- Typically, 16 weeks, negotiable with ideal timeframe from April – early August (Summer of 2026 to include onsite facilitation experience at Nationals in Grand Rapids, MI on July 7 – 17)
- Office hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm EST (flexible hours to accommodate differing time zones are available)
Location: Remote
Compensation: $50 stipend per day
Travel: When requested to travel, all expenses to Move United events are covered
Education: Adaptive sports training and education Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits or additional certificates can be earned upon request.

- Flexible/adaptable to change
- Organized with multi-tasking abilities
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Background in the field, including formal education or equivalent experience (Preferred)
- Technologically proficient with experience in using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
- Effective communicator – comfortable using a range of communication tools
- Experience using web creation platforms (i.e. WordPress), digital marketing platforms (i.e. Constant Contact), and digital design experience (i.e. Canva) a plus
- Authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a background screening
- Availability to travel within the U.S. (air and ground)
- A valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving history a plus
- Ability to provide a work/school sample of previous projects
Accepted interns will be required to:
- Complete any training required for the internship
- Maintain weekly meetings with the supervisor and Team
- Participate in a mid and end-of-internship review
- Be responsible for completing the necessary paperwork, if seeking college credits
- Be onsite to help facilitate The Hartford Nationals in Michigan from July 7-17.
