General Description:

Directly responsible for adhering to the mission of New England Disabled Sports (NEDS): Through sports and recreation, to enhance lives affected by disabilities.

Communicates, interprets, and supports the philosophy and policies of NEDS, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, and all remote locations to facilitate effective connection with all client groups, including students, families, staff, volunteers, and donors.

Serves as an active member of the NEDS community, embracing the culture of volunteerism and seeking out opportunities to provide an inclusive and appreciative environment during all NEDS activities.

Continually strives to enhance customer experience, access to adaptive sports, and quality of volunteer training to achieve the highest level of service delivery.

Consistently drive NEDS operations towards achieving the strategic goals established by the Board of Directors.
Reports to the Managing Director and is expected to manage and work with the Sports Coordinators, and to interface with the Sr. Sports Coordinator, Corporate Development Director, Office Coordinator and all other staff and volunteers.
This is a full-time, exempt, year-round salaried position. The role is primarily administrative in nature and is not a remote position. While it supports NEDS programs, the focus is on administrative and operational responsibilities rather than direct sports instruction.

Overview:

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing all facets of New England Disabled Sports programs, at all locations both winter and summer.  The Program Manager is responsible for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, special events, and recognition and is responsible for supervising the Sports Coordinators. The Program Manager is also responsible for student-athlete recruitment, registration, groups, goals and assessments to ensure that progress is being made towards goals. Ensure that NEDS owns and maintains the equipment necessary to provide student-athletes with a fun and safe experience.

Specific Responsibilities:

Marketing

Collaborates with the Managing Director to promote NEDS programming, special events, and volunteerism.

Leadership

  • Manages overall delivery and evaluation of  year-round programming operations at all locations, delegating responsibility for day-to-day execution to Sports Coordinators, as appropriate,
  • Collaborate with Sr. Sports Coordinator to develop program delivery guidelines, standard operating procedures, forms, and handbooks and make recommendations to the Managing Director for periodic updates.
  • Mentors and coordinates with Sports Coordinators to oversee all adaptive sports operations at all program locations.
  • Directs and supports NEDS staff in planning, organizing, and facilitating adaptive sports programs to ensure excellent quality in adaptive instruction, mountain resort relationships, customer satisfaction, and ethical business practice.
  • Collaborates with the Managing Director to establish annual goals related to students served and volunteer participation
  • Operates and manages all Internship programming.
  • Develops and oversees procedures for program growth for winter and summer programming.
  • Responsible for ensuring that documentation complies with all policies and procedures of the Move United organization, NEDS organization, Loon Mountain/Bretton Woods Resorts, and all other programming locations.
  • Provides insight with activities associated with annual operating budget preparation as facilitated by the NEDS finance committee and Managing Director.
  • Collaborates with NEDS Managing Director to oversee operations of all NEDS affiliate programs to adhere to budgetary guidelines.
  • Identify, compose, and submit grant applications to support New England Disabled Sports initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the NEDS grant committee, and other development staff to support grant activities.
  • Manages the delivery and tracking of grant-based programs and assists in preparing and submitting reports to grant funders as required.

 

Programming

  • Ensure all student-athletes and volunteers accepted into the program meet and adhere to NEDS policies and guidelines.
  • Coordinates with NEDS staff and volunteers to manage all sports equipment NEDS owns and maintains the equipment necessary to provide students and volunteers with a safe and fun experience.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Sports Coordinator to implement and manage the NEDS Safety and Risk Management Program to ensure the safe participation of all participants, volunteers and staff and make recommendations to the Managing Director for periodic updates.
  • Tracks and submits statistical lesson reports for student-athletes and volunteers to the Managing Director as needed.
  • Recruit and schedule student groups for NEDS programming.
  • Identify and create a yearly recruitment plan for volunteer needs and opportunities.
  • Work with programming staff and coaches to review participant applications, goals, and assessments to ensure positive experiences and goal progression.
  • Develops, implements, and manages the NEDS scholarship process.
  • Plans and coordinates volunteer engagement activities during the year.
  • Manages the process of gathering post-participation athlete and volunteer satisfaction surveys.
  • Conduct and assess volunteer monthly and end-of-season evaluations with assistance from the Managing Director, Sr. Sports Coordinator and Sports Coordinators.
  • Identify new opportunities for new program development and delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Sports Coordinator and Sports Coordinators to assess new program plans and implementation and make recommendations to the Managing Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

 

Qualifications:

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a disability-related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children, adolescents, and/or adults living with disability, preferably in sports and leisure programming.
  • PSIA/AASI Level 1 Adaptive Alpine certification minimum or obtains within 1 year of employment.
  • Certification as needed in all adaptive sports programming provided by NEDS.

  • NEDS provides services 7 days a week, the successful candidate will have a willingness to be flexible with work hours and locations to accommodate the needs of the job.
