Move United Junior Nationals Returns to Metro Denver Area July 16-22, 2022

Sport pushes what’s possible for people with disabilities, confronting ignorance, fueling conversation, and inciting action that leads to a world where everyone’s included. This is one of the goals of Move United Junior Nationals presented by The Hartford. Now in its 38th year, Move United Junior Nationals, scheduled for July 16-22 in Metro Denver, Colorado, is the largest and longest-standing national sport championship event for young athletes with a physical disability, visual and/or intellectual impairment through the age of twenty-two.

With more than 300 athletes with disabilities and coaches participating, the weeklong event includes competitions, clinics, education and social opportunities. The sports contested include archery, paratriathlon, para powerlifting, shooting, swimming, track and field, and new for 2022, wheelchair tennis.

“I am thrilled to welcome the Moved United Junior Nationals back to Colorado for their 2022 event,” said Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera. “Governor Polis and I are working hard to make Colorado a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, and we share Move United’s vision of a world where everyone is included. Participation in sports teaches young people, regardless of ability, the importance of determination, perseverance, and passion, and I offer my congratulations to all of the athletes who will be competing this year.”

The Move United Junior Nationals presented by The Hartford serves as a platform to promote physical activity, independence for youth with disabilities and may one day lead them to compete at the international level and the Paralympic Games.

“We are excited and honored to host the Junior Nationals in 2022.  The Denver area has always been a welcoming destination for sports, and the compelling stories of these athletes echo the values found here. Denver Sports Commission is proud to welcome these dedicated athletes and their families to Colorado,” said Denver Sports Commission Executive Director Matthew Payne.
