"My experience has changed my life because it gave me an outlet as an athlete with a disability and has kept me going ever since." - Ella Willis

Willis discovered her competitive edge early. After starting in Miracle League, she knew she needed more. In fourth grade, wheelchair track and field opened a new world. Fifth grade brought wheelchair basketball. By sixth grade, she added para swimming to her roster.

The path to adaptive sports began with two physical therapists who saw her potential. Laura Duncan and Kristin Hamrick helped organize the Louisville Lightning sports team through her school district. The program gave Willis access to equipment and the chance to try different sports, ultimately leading her to Move United competitions.

Today, track and field and wheelchair basketball energize Willis most. On the track, she thrives on speed and competition. On the court, she values the power of teamwork. Her teammates and friends keep her coming back, along with her deep love for the sports themselves.

Sport has become central to Willis's life. It keeps her active and in shape. More importantly, it's where she's built her closest friendships with other athletes who share similar experiences. Adaptive sports didn't just give her an outlet—it gave her a community that continues to drive her forward.
