NFL’s Salute to Service Honors Three Warfighter Sports Ambassadors

Now that we know who is playing in the Big Game and the football season is coming to a close, we want to highlight the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative that featured three Warfighters.

Thanks to our partner, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, these three Warfighter Sports Ambassadors received a special greeting from their favorite NFL player.


U.S. Air Force Veteran Dan Acosta received a letter from Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears.

U.S. Army Col. Danny Dudek had a message from Tarik Cohen and the Chicago Bears as well.

And U.S. Army Veteran Orlando Perez heard from someone he looks up to, Shaquem Griffin from the Seattle Seahawks.

 

Wheelchair Football Program Being Introduced

In addition, there is exciting news for 2020. The game you love to watch on Sundays is now available to all athletes. Wheelchair Football is the newest competitive sport offered by Disabled Sports USA’s chapter network and offers an exciting option for athletes looking for a fast-paced, competitive sport.

Developed in partnership with the NFL and the Bob Woodruff Foundation, wheelchair football includes all of the dynamism of the sport you know, and makes it available to athletes with disabilities. The inaugural season will feature four teams, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Kansas City and Chicago, competing in 2020. Look for expansion teams planned for future seasons in a community near you.
