The Opportunity
Gatorade is proud to support our Gatorade Equity in Sports Partner Move United with their upcoming USA Wheelchair Football League Tournament in Chicago, August 18 – 20.
You – and your families ages 14 and up – are encouraged to sign up for one of the volunteer time slots below to support and cheer for the Chicago Bears Wheelchair Football Team competing against seven other NFL Wheelchair Teams throughout the three-day tournament. We encourage youth to volunteer as Ball Persons.
Time slots to volunteer are described in the form below, and you are more than welcome to cheer for these athletes as well.
What is Move United?

Since 1956, Move United has been redefining disability by providing year-round sports and recreation opportunities to people with a wide range of disabilities offering more than 70 different adaptive sports. Through our national network of 225 community Member Organizations, Move United serves over 120,000 individuals with disabilities of all ages each year.
Move United is an official Affiliate of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and a recognized partner with numerous sports organizations including the Professional Ski Instructors of America, USA Archery, Adaptive Track & Field USA and TrueSport. Recognition of Move United includes the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s Amazing Leader Award and 2019 Rings of Gold Award, as well as the 2021 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Sports Award.
With hundreds of internal and external partners, from member organizations, to hospitals, to disability organizations and sports organizations, Move United is leading a movement so that no one is left on the sidelines and everyone gets in the game.

Volunteer descriptions
Volunteer roles are listed below. To register, please click on the registration link and select your availability on Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
Volunteer Opportunities:
SET-UP/ BREAKDOWN:
Volunteer will help with set up of the tournament (or tear down depending on session), including marking of fields, setting up banners and signage, packing and unpacking, and check-in of tournament equipment.
- Physical Skills Required: Highly physical role. Volunteer may need to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Key Role Assets: Best suited for organized and motivated volunteers who are comfortable with following instructions on-site to assist with creating a first-class atmosphere for USAWFL athletes.
- Time Commitment: 6 hours
REGISTRATION / CHECK-IN:
Volunteer will help with checking in all athletes, coaches and volunteers. Volunteers will also serve as a primary point of contact for attendees with questions.
- Physical Skills Required: Mostly seated role. Lifting less that 5 pounds.
- Key Role Assets: Best suited for an organized, customer service oriented volunteer.
- Time Commitment: 4 hours
DOWNS PERSON:
Volunteer will ensure players stats will be kept for seasonal posterity using the scoring sheets provided. A sample scoring and stats sheet will be provided on-site for reference to assist the volunteer.
- Physical Skills Required: Minimally physical role. Must be able to hold up the down marker (approx. 8 lbs.) for the length of a game. May be done seated or standing.
- Key Role Assets: Best suited for a volunteer who is semi-knowledgeable in football rules and understands the basics of down management.
- Time Commitment: 4 hours (2 games)
BALL PERSON:
Volunteer will ensure officials always have access to at least one ball on the field and one on the sidelines ready to come into play.
- Physical Skills Required: Minimally physical role. Must be able to track down balls that come off the field of play and get balls to the lead official quickly to keep game play moving.
- Key Role Assets: Best suited for a volunteer who wants to be near the action.
- Time Commitment: 4 hours (2 games)
SCORER’S TABLE (TIMER):
Volunteer will ensure games run smoothly by running the game clock and keeping score on provided scoreboards. Volunteer will also assist the stats keeping volunteer as appropriate.
- Physical Skills Required: Mostly seated role.
- Key Role Assets: Best suited for a volunteer who is comfortable with football rules and timing and is able to pay close attention to officials during game play.
- Time Commitment: 4 hours (2 games)
SCORER’S TABLE (STAT’S KEEPER):
Volunteer will ensure players stats will be kept for seasonal posterity using the scoring sheets provided. A sample scoring and stats sheet will be provided on-site for reference to assist the volunteer.
- Physical Skills Required: Mostly seated role.
- Key Role Assets: Best suited for a volunteer who is semi-knowledgeable in football rules and basic stats and can stay focused during the length of a game.
- Time Commitment: 4 hours (2 games)
