ABOUT THE TRAINING: Even experienced coaches can struggle to build out a successful learn to play clinic. You’ve only got half a day to engage a wide range of athletes and build their skills, all in a fun atmosphere. This training will work to provide clinicians a basis for how to build out a successful learn to play clinic. As a tent pole of all adaptive sports program, the learn to play clinic can serve as a way to build excitement for a new program or help bring in new athletes to an existing program. Attendees will focus on learning how to successfully set up their clinic, how to plan for modification of drills to adjust for varying skill levels, and how to keep things fun and encourage athletes to continue their football journey. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This training is appropriate for anyone looking to learn more about running a learn to play clinic. A previous knowledge of football and general terminology will be helpful to make the most out of the training. Priority will be given to attendees affiliated with Move United Member Organizations, VA employees and those who provide adaptive sports opportunities for free to veterans with disabilities. WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND: Connect with other wheelchair football enthusiasts, grow your coaching skills and have fun in a hands-on setting! Trainees will be added to Move United’s list of trained learn to play clinicians for paid opportunities at sites across the country. In 2024, we’re looking for trainers to lead clinics in the following cities: Jacksonville, NC, Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA, Minneapolis, MN and more… COST OF ATTENDANCE: This training is free of charge to Move United Member Organization trainees, VA Staff and others who provide adaptive sports opportunities free of charge to veterans. Lunch will be provided. Cost of travel is at the expense of the attendee.
