The free DC Para Standing Tennis Clinic Series is hosted at WTEF East Campus (200 Stoddert Place SE, Washington, DC 20019). The clinics will be led by JTCC staff experienced in providing para standing tennis to all ages and abilities. This event is provided in partnership with Hanger Clinic, WTEF, and Para Standing Tennis DMV. Para Standing tennis is a category of adaptive tennis for people with physical disabilities who prefer to play standing. This includes people with limb loss/difference, multiple sclerosis, TBI, stroke, etc. To learn more about the sport, please watch this short video available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VnspIZ8yAwfXdcwXW-0GmWr3sT1L4iOZ/view?usp=sharing There are three events in the series listed below. The first hour is volunteer training, and the last two hours are for the player clinic. Volunteers new to working with para standing tennis players are encouraged to attend a training before their first clinic. Saturday, September 28th | 1pm to 4pm | Get Rallying (Forehands & Backhands) Saturday, October 19th | 1pm to 4pm | Enhance Your Game (Serves & Volleys) Saturday, November 9th – 1pm to 4pm | Game, Set, Match (Scoring & Matchplay Basics) Players and volunteers are welcome at one, two, or all three clinics depending on their availability and what they want to work on. You can select the dates you plan to attend in the form below. Tennis rackets are available for players who do not have their own. Players should wear athletic clothes, tennis shoes, and bring a water bottle.
