“Sport allows me the ability to clear my mind. It's my happy place. Its the 26.1 point in a marathon knowing that all the training has culminated to this point of seeing the finish line the goal.” - Army First Lieutenant Matt Levine

Levine was part of the 1/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT).

Levine injured his neck during combative hand-to-hand training in November 2007, which later caused several blackouts while being deployed to Iraq in 2008-2009. By the time he was medivac'd from Iraq he suffered nine concussions from the blackout. The final one led to him losing his short-term memory for six months as well as seizures and severe tinnitus. He medically retired in March 2011.

Levine has had a love for golf, skiing, and running his whole life. Levine developed a passion for adaptive sports in 2009 when he started participating in Move United events (Disabled Sports USA at that time).

Since then he has run over 45 marathons, 300 half marathons and 7 ultra-marathons.
