"There are still chapters in my life to be written and I look forward to the journey." - U.S. Army Major Amanda Warren
Warren served with distinction for 26 years as a Major (O-4) in the Army, specializing in Logistics Management. She oversaw critical supply chain operations, planning and executing logistics strategies to ensure troops received essential resources and equipment during deployments and various missions.
Transitioning from military to civilian life brought unique challenges, but Warren found the medical care needed for both physical and mental healing. Through sports, she quickly discovered her potential remained limitless despite her injuries.
Warren's introduction to adaptive sports began at a networking event focused on veteran rehabilitation, sponsored by Adaptive Adventures. Though initially uncertain about participating, she attended to support fellow veterans. The positive atmosphere and shared stories of resilience motivated her to take her own first steps into adaptive sports through recumbent cycling.
Since that pivotal moment, Warren has actively participated in track and field, cycling, and pickleball. These sports provide her with freedom and empowerment, challenging her physically while fostering teamwork and camaraderie among fellow veterans and athletes.
As a Move United Warfighters Ambassador, Warren has experienced the transformative power of sport in managing transition stressors. The discipline from her military experience translates seamlessly into athletics, enhancing her focus and determination. Through sports, she has built strong relationships within the veteran and athlete community, creating lasting bonds of belonging and unity.
Warren's journey reinforces a powerful truth: no matter the obstacles we face, there is strength in unity and the pursuit of shared goals.
