"Finding adaptive sports changed the trajectory of my life. Adaptive sports have allowed me to feel powerful, have a sense of purpose, and most importantly, have brought me immense joy." – Move United Brand Ambassador Annijke Wade

Wade was introduced to adaptive sports in 2021, following a downhill mountain bike accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury. Early on, Wade knew two things: she wanted to be an adaptive mountain biker, and she wanted to try as many adaptive sports as possible.

Being active and outdoors has long been central to Wade's life. Through adaptive sports, she found community, set and pursued new athletic goals, sharpened her discipline, and discovered opportunities for mentorship. The High Fives Foundation, Vasu Sojitra, and Tricia Downing were key influences along the way.

Wade has quickly made her mark in adaptive mountain biking. She earned third place in the adaptive downhill race at the Sea Otter Classic in both 2025 and 2026, and first place in the adaptive category at the 2025 Sturdy Dirty Enduro.

As a Move United Brand Ambassador, Wade is passionate about expanding access to sport. "Knowing that I am welcome and I have access to sport is very powerful," she says. Her goal is to see more people take part in sport and recreation at every level, from every background, and with every type of disability.
