65+ year old Left Below Knee Amputee 20 Year Cancer Survivor. Retired IT Professional. Served in the Army 1976-79. Since my double whammy of amputation and cancer, I have been making good of the opportunities available to turn lemons into lemonade and seeing the glass full with gratitude. I’m an advocate for people with disabilities specializing in individuals effected by limb loss. I am a certified peer visitor by both the Amputee Coalition and United Spinal Association. I serve on the Board of Directors as Immediate Past Board President of Taconic Resources for Independence, my local Independent Living Center. I am a Facilitator for the Mid-Hudson Limb Loss Support Group. My passionate commitment as an athlete to sports took place at age 60 after my second battle with a cancer diagnosis. Took the No Barriers Challenge and focused more on my Mental & Physical health through  exercise, rest and nutrition. Through numerous Adaptive Sports program opportunities, I have enjoyed Archery, Biking, Camping, Equine, Fishing, Hiking, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Parasailing, Running, Skiing (Alpine, Cross Country & Water), Sky Diving, Strength Training, White Water Rafting, and Yoga. I am always looking for new opportunities to add to the list, Scuba diving being one of them. I am an Intermediate 2-track adaptive skier which I love!
