Athlete playing sled hockey

Sam Winter

I had a stroke when I was born and I have cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I started playing sled hockey when I was 12 years old through a camp held in North Dakota. I knew right away I had found my passion. I love being on the ice and going fast and running as fast as I can on the track! I got the nickname “Superman Sam” from my speed on the ice and track! During the 2019 Junior Nationals, I took first place in all of my events in my class and age group, even breaking some of the national records I had just set at Desert Challenge Games!
