In 2017, Will Borden, a runner and below-the-knee amputee, imagined a road race that would welcome athletes of all abilities and celebrate the power of mobility. The dream became reality in 2018 with the first Bionic5K. In Cambridge MA, amputees and blind athletes raced alongside able-bodied runners. What’s more, members of the mobility-focused robotics and bionics labs at Harvard and M.I.T. joined the community. This October, what started in the east goes west as we proudly introduce the Bionic Mile in beautiful Golden Gate Park. Conquer the Bionic Mile in whatever way you choose. Run. Walk. Roll. Push a stroller. Push yourself. No matter how you move, the Bionic Mile welcomes you. |
