Hoover, Alabama
Located near the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the City of Hoover, Alabama was incorporated in 1967 by William H. Hoover, a local insurance company owner. What started out as a sleepy, suburban town is today regarded as an economic engine for the state.
Hoover is the sixth largest city in Alabama with a population of almost 93,000 people and it continues to grow. It is a part of the seven-county Birmingham-Hoover Metro, a mid-sized market that is home to multiple colleges and universities, distinct and varied industry sectors and a population base that represents many cultures and traditions.
Hoover is a highly educated and diverse community that offers an excellent workforce and an excellent quality of life for citizens. Nearly 60% of our citizens over the age of 25 hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, and over 50 foreign languages are spoken in our city. As a result, our community produces and attracts a significant talent pipeline.
Over 47,000 people commute to Hoover each day for work from across the metro region and beyond. They work at significant companies like Regions Financial Corporation, BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama, AT&T, which have headquarters or large operations in the city. Hoover is also home to hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses.
When it comes to having fun, Hoover has lots of variety to offer. The city has over 20 parks. You can find restaurants offering international cuisine within just a few blocks of one another. There are numerous entertainment venues featuring everything from comedy to live music. And there is shopping galore, including the Riverchase Galleria—one of the largest shopping malls in the southeast region.
In 2021, Hoover was named “The Best Place to Live in Alabama.” We believe it doesn’t take long to find out why that’s true.
