Calling all athletes! The $2500 award is given to an athlete, nominated by their peers, who serves as an advocate for the adaptive sports movement and inspires others as a role model.
The Hartford Human Achievement Award will be given to one athlete a The Hartford event and at each of the five Move United Sanctioned Competitions that are a part of The Hartford Adaptive Sports Competition Series.
The Hartford Adaptive Sports Competition Series:
- Texas Regional Games In Partnership With The Hartford
- Gateway Games In Partnership With The Hartford
- Desert Challenge Games In Partnership With The Hartford
- Great Lakes Games In Partnership With The Hartford
- The Hartford Nationals conducted by Move United
Eligibility
The Hartford Human Achievement Award is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico who are at least thirteen (13) years old at the time of entry and who are competing at the competition at which the Award is being given out. Athletes may be nominated by their peers, coaches, or event staff. The winner will be selected by an athlete representative from The Hartford.
Criteria for athlete nominated:
- Serves as an advocate for human achievement through adaptive sports by lending their support and encouragement to other athletes, serving as a role model within the adaptive sports community, and focusing on what they can achieve versus perceived limitations
- Exhibits commitment, persistence, and discipline to their sport
- Competes in the competition at which they are being nominated. Athletes may be nominated for multiple competitions but may only be selected at one event.
- Attends award presentation on site at competition
- Ineligible if a recipient of The Hartford Human Achievement Award in 2022, 2023, or 2024.
- Must not be considered part of Team USA (cannot be a current member of your NGB’s national team and receiving funding from your NGB). This award is intended for grassroots athletes who have not yet competed at the elite international level.
- Willing to share their story with media

Award
The chosen recipient of The Hartford Human Achievement Award for each of the five competitions will receive the following:
- $2,500 grant in furtherance of their athletic pursuits in adaptive sports
- Photo with World Champion athlete
- VIP gift bag
