Rising Racers

Rising Racers

Introduction to Move United Race Camp

Alpine Skiing • Snowboarding • Nordic/Biathlon

Rising Racers is a new on-ramp into Race Camp, designed for athletes who are ready to take the next step beyond Learn to Ski and Snowboard but aren’t quite ready to jump into the full pace of Race Camp on their own. Rising Racers athletes fully integrate into Race Camp for the week, with additional one-on-one support to make the transition smooth and set them up for a strong first experience.

Compared to the Learn to Ski & Snowboard program, Rising Racers carries elevated expectations: athletes are training toward Race Camp, not just a lesson, and will be expected to be present for all meetings and sessions on- and off-snow, and build the technical and mental habits of a racer over the course of the week.

Application Process

Applications open late August 2026 and a very limited number of spots will be available. Applications will be individually evaluated and our team may request additional information to ensure proper program fit. You’ll be contacted after the application window has closed and your registration has been reviewed. Any athletes who are not chosen for Rising Racers are welcome to register for Learn to Ski and Snowboard lessons.

No scholarships are available for Rising Racers at this time.

What to Expect

Full Integration, Extra Support

Rising Racers athletes train alongside Race Camp all week and are placed into the training group that best fits their discipline and current ability, so every athlete is challenged at the right level.

A Dedicated One-on-One Coach

Every Rising Racers athlete is paired with a one-on-one coach for the week. This coach’s role is to guide the athlete’s transition into Race Camp, reinforce concepts introduced in group training, and help the athlete settle into the right training group as their comfort and skill grow.

What Athletes Will Train On

  • Improvement of technical skiing or riding ability
  • Introduction to race tactics
  • Course-specific drills
  • Equipment tuning
  • Movement analysis for performance
  • Race day experience through a fun, low-pressure race

Who Should Apply

No Race Experience Necessary

Rising Racers is built for athletes who are curious about racing and want a supported first step into Race Camp. No prior race experience is required — what matters is a willingness to train hard, try new things, and grow into the Race Camp environment.

Age Requirement: 13 years or older

Rising Racers welcomes any athlete interested in race training for Paralympic competition, or other sanctioned winter sport competition, and is interested in pursuing competitive excellence.

Equipment

Come Prepared to Perform

Bring your own gear. As with Race Camp, Rising Racers athletes are responsible for providing their own equipment, including skis, snowboards, adaptive devices, prosthetics, and VI bibs. This ensures you’re training with gear that’s properly fitted and familiar, maximizing your performance and safety throughout the week.

Equipment Guidelines

Use What You Know: Train with equipment you’ve tested and are comfortable using. Ski Spec isn’t the time to break in new or unfitted gear—stick with what works for your best performance.

Proper Fit Matters: All equipment, devices, and prosthetics should be professionally fitted and race-ready before you arrive.

Don’t Have Your Own Equipment?

Plan ahead for success. If you don’t own racing equipment or can’t transport it to Colorado, connect with these resources well before the event:

    • Contact your local adaptive sports program for rental recommendations
    • Connect with Race Camp Director Jess Pullar at jpullar@moveunitedsport.org for guidance

Make arrangements early to ensure you have properly fitted, tested equipment ready for your competitive training experience.
