The games opened on Thursday, June 10, with a day of sports clinics and camps for aspiring athletes. Competition kicked off Friday, June 11, with cycling, powerlifting, shooting, outdoor archery, basketball, swimming, and several field events.

Saturday’s events featured track and field, followed by sitting volleyball. The games concluded Sunday, June 13, with wheelchair softball, indoor archery, and table tennis.

Also on Saturday, The Hartford surprised two deserving youth athletes, Delia Bass and Trevor Coburn, with their own custom-fit adaptive sports equipment. The equipment will be a game changer for both youth in their athletic competitions. Paralympic Gold Medalist and Wheelchair Basketball Player Megan Blunk, a Team Hartford athlete was on hand to make the presentation.

Bass, 12 years old, is from Arlington, TX. Born with spina bifida, she competes in Track and Field and this was her first time attending the UCO Endeavor Games. She is an excellent teammate and her mom had been trying to figure out how to get her own racing chair, since she has been using a chair from 1998 shared by a former Paralympian. Bass plans to join her middle school track team next year and having her own racer will put her on a path for success.

Coburn is 18 years old and from Beggs, OK. Coburn was born with spina bifida and competes in powerlifting, air rifle shooting, and archery. Archery is one of his favorite sports and having his own bow will be a game changer. He has been attending the UCO Endeavor Games for 6+ years and this year he was recognized as the senior athlete of the event. He is currently coached by Paralympic archer Scotty Hasting.

UCO, a member of the Move United member network, is an official U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Site and is the host training site for the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Sitting Volleyball teams. In addition, Central currently is a training site for USA Taekwondo.
