Job Description: This is a full-time, exempt Program Coordinator position, specializing in Recreation Therapy and management of recruitment, training, scheduling, recognition, data, and risk mitigation of volunteers. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising therapeutic recreation programs and services for Sports & Fitness Center members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate various therapeutic recreation, adaptive aquatic, fitness, and sports programs.
  • This position serves as the lead staff member for all therapeutic recreation programs, events and activities, including but not limited to one on one sessions, group recreational therapy session and community programming.
  • Hire, supervise, schedule and evaluate therapeutic recreation staff, interns and volunteers.
  • Supervise Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center Volunteer Program.
  • Maintain daily volunteer schedule and create sign up program for special event volunteers.
  • Maintain schedule integrity according to Easy Time Clock management.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with University Therapeutic Recreation programs around the nation to develop and maintain intern program.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, clinics, and other community organizations to offer a variety of therapeutic recreation programs.
  • Provide member assessments, ongoing progress notes, and evaluations.
  • Assist in facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with registration of participants; maintain related records.
  • Maintain communication with members, members’ parents and/or guardians.
  • Ensure that health, safety and sanitation standards are maintained.
  • Assist with grant research and writing as needed.
  • Manage grant programs as needed.
  • Purchase regular program supplies; recommend larger purchases.
  • Perform administrative aspects of Ability360 required for Ability360 Employees including shared scheduling and documents.
  • Develop marketing skills including social media and print.
  • Maintain proper documentation in membership software including, but not limited to, account balancing and minor budgetary accountability.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and 1-3 years of progressive work experience in program leadership and supervision of therapeutic recreation programs and interns.
  • Program experience to include working with individuals that have a wide variety of abilities; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties.
  • At least 1 year of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification required and adaptive aquatic experience a plus.
  • Experience with management of recruitment, training, scheduling, recognition, data, and risk mitigation of volunteers.
