Job Title: Executive Director
Location: Remote work, in addition to seasonal work at various on-site locations in
both Vermont and New Hampshire. Time allocation varies seasonally.
Status: Full-time, year-round (40 hours/week)
Compensation: $60,000 -$80,000/year, commensurate with experience
Reports To: Board of Directors

Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the strategic and operational leader of Adaptive Sports Partners, ensuring that all programs, partnerships, and organizational activities reflect and advance the mission of inclusive, community-centered adaptive sports. The Executive Direction is responsible for fostering a culture of belonging, safety, and empowerment for athletes, volunteers, and staff. This person works closely with the Board of Directors and leads a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, accessible programs that respond to the diverse needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion Adaptive Sports Partners’ mission, vision, and values in all aspects of leadership, decision-making, and community engagement.
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment where athletes of all abilities feel supported, challenged, and empowered.
  • Promote a culture centered on safety, respect, adaptability, and continuous learning.
  • Provide overall leadership and management of organizational operations, programs, and services.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, including Program Managers and an administrative assistant.
  • Support staff with recruiting and training volunteers who can work alongside staff to deliver individualized, high-quality experiences for athletes with diverse needs.
  • Ensure effective recruitment, training, and retention of staff who are aligned with Adaptive Sports Partners’ mission.
  • Oversee organizational systems, policies, procedures, and operational infrastructure to ensure effective, efficient, and mission-aligned operations across programs, fundraising, communications, and community engagement activities.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with venues, schools, referral organizations, adaptive sports groups, and community leaders across New Hampshire’s North Country and Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.
  • Actively engage with professional networks and community groups to represent Adaptive Sports Partners and advocate for inclusive recreation opportunities.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, research, and best practices in adaptive sports, disability inclusion, and nonprofit leadership, and apply this knowledge to continuously strengthen programs and organizational impact.

Fundraising, Development & Community Engagement

  • Lead fundraising strategy, signature events, annual giving campaigns, donor stewardship initiatives, sponsorship development, and long-term development planning.
  • Lead and grow the organization’s grant management process, continually seeking out new funding opportunities through local, regional and national businesses and organizations. Cultivate new relationships while managing
    existing grant relations.
  •  Oversee fundraising operations and systems, including donor database/CRM management, campaign tracking, reporting, and engagement across individual, corporate, foundation, and community giving sectors.
  • Serve as the primary ambassador for Adaptive Sports Partners, guiding storytelling, marketing, communications, public relations, website presence, and digital outreach efforts that elevate athlete experiences and reflect the
    organization’s mission.
  • Strengthen relationships with donors, sponsors, and community supporters to advance fundraising and organizational sustainability.
  • Ensure effective cultivation and stewardship of event sponsors, community partners, and supporters to strengthen visibility, engagement, and long-term community investment in Adaptive Sports Partners.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers to design, evaluate, and evolve programs that meet a wide range of physical, developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Ensure programs are adaptable, safe, and responsive, incorporating appropriate equipment and specialized instruction.
  • Oversee systems that measure program quality, participant outcomes, and community impact.
  • Maintain a strong focus on risk management, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead annual budgeting and financial planning in partnership with the Board, staff, and external advisors.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of resources to sustain and grow programs and services.
  • Monitor financial performance and align resource allocation with strategic priorities and community needs.

Strategic Planning & Governance

  • Lead strategic planning processes that reflect input from athletes, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to set priorities, monitor progress, ensure organizational accountability and develop administrative procedures.
  • Provide regular updates, reports, and insights to support informed governance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit leadership, adaptive recreation, education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and serving individuals with diverse abilities.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills.
  • Experience with fundraising, grant writing, financial management, and community engagement.
