Eric Kuwana is a partner at Alston & Bird.
Eric Kuwana focuses his practice on large commercial and corporate disputes, products liability cases, real estate matters, corporate and shareholder securities actions, and other bet-the-company litigation. He regularly represents companies, their officers and directors, and board committees in internal investigations, corporate governance matters, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) enforcement matters, and other government and internal investigations.
Eric has defended and tried cases for his clients with total exposures in the billions of dollars. Over the course of his career, Eric has represented clients in complex litigation matters throughout the country, serving as lead counsel for clients in federal and state courts in more than 30 states. He also has experience handling international matters in East Asia, Europe, and the UK.
Before entering private practice, Eric served in the White House under President George H. W. Bush in the Office of Counsel to the President, where he regularly advised political parties, individuals, and companies in government litigation, regulatory challenges, congressional investigations, enforcement actions, government subpoenas, and politically charged disputes. He also represented the Republican National Committee, National Republican Senatorial Committee, National Republican Congressional Committee, and Bush-Cheney presidential campaign in various high-profile disputes, subpoenas, congressional investigations, and other matters throughout the years. Eric also served as an attorney in the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Eric received his JD from the University of Kansas School of Law and undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago.
