Huayra Gomez-Garcia

Huayra has been with Move United since 2006, growing through various roles including Programs Intern, Executive Assistant, Youth Program Manager, and Events Senior Manager before becoming the Marketing and Communications Director in 2024. In her current role, Huayra sets and directs strategy to elevate Move United's visibility and recognition within the disability sport community and to the general public. Through her leadership, Huayra works to amplify the organization's mission of breaking barriers and expanding possibilities through adaptive and inclusive sports.
A proud graduate of the University of Florida (Go Gators!), Huayra earned her B.S. in Exercise and Sports Sciences with a specialization in Athletic Training and a minor in Spanish. Her background in sports sciences fuels her commitment to physical activity literacy for both mental and physical health. Huayra believes that education is the future to more access and participation, and that the power of community creates inclusive and lasting connections.
What drives Huayra is getting more people active in sports at every ability level and stage of life. When not advancing Move United's mission, she enjoys time with family and friends, playing volleyball, dancing, watching sports, eating or cooking Bolivian food, and traveling.
