The National Park Foundation (NPF), in collaboration with the National Park Service (NPS), is issuing a Request for Proposals for a pilot grant program focused on accessibility in national parks. The goal of this grant is to improve trip planning and elevate inclusive park experiences for visitors with disabilities.
Grant Highlights:
- An optional information call to discuss this RFP and the proposal process will be held on July 22nd at 3:00pm ET (Zoom link here).
- Applications are due no later than Thursday, August 22, 2024 (midnight ET). Please see the Request for Proposals for more information on criteria and instructions on how to apply
- Grants requests may be up to $75,000 (new) or $50,000 (existing) – one proposal per applicant
- A letter of support from an NPS superintendent is required
- Example projects
- Trail assessments / measurements
- Engagement between parks and local disability stakeholders
- Provision of accessibility training
- Video and content development
- Programs that ensure mobility devices are available to visitors with disabilities
