Barb’s wheelchair sports career spans five decades. During this time she served as an official, coach, meet administrator for more than one hundred wheelchair sporting events around the world and as Chairman of Wheelchair Sports USA during the early 2000’s.

Barb officiated her first track meet in 1972 and officiated at least one event in each of the twenty-seven years since and into the future. These include the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, several Junior National Wheelchair Championships, the National Wheelchair Games and the National Veteran’s Wheelchair Games.

Barb was equally involved as a coach. She coached numerous athletes in their development, ranging from novice to world record holders. She was a member of the USA Team Coaching Paralympic competition in 1980 in Arnhem, Netherlands; the 1992 competition in Barcelona, Spain; and the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney, Australia.

Barb has also been director for numerous regional sporting events in the Far West Wheelchair Athletic Association region and also been very involved in veteran’s sports with the Air Force Wounded Warrior Trials that are held at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas every spring.

Her daughter Megan grew up in the organization and became a partner with her mom in running and officiating events.
