Born in Iowa, David Jamison contracted polio in his youth which made his left leg non-functioning. He ended up taking lessons at Arapahoe Basin, eventually taking up 3-track skiing, skiing with a single ski and two outrigger cuffs, after the amputation and became one of the top adaptive ski racers in the world, winning over 100 national and regional alpine victories, 10 combined national titles and 3 world championship medals, including one gold.

David was named to the U.S. Disabled Ski Teams in both 1984 and 1988. In the 1984 Winter Paralympic Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. David won a bronze medal in the Giant Slalom competition. In the 1988 Winter Paralympic Games held in Calgary, Alberta he took the silver medal in the same race. David also represented the United States at the Men’s giant slalom for single-leg amputees event in disabled skiing, a demonstration sport at the1984 Winter Olympics.
