Under Maureen’s direction as the very first Chairperson of the Wheelchair Sports USA Junior Committee, the foundation for future development of the Junior Division was laid. Through her efforts the following achievements were accomplished: the first brochure for Junior Division; the development of the first qualifying standards; a national competition for junior athletes; and the establishment of an enthusiastic working committee to sustain the goals of the Junior Division. Maureen’s legacy to Wheelchair Sports USA is demonstrated by the continued and current success of the Junior program.
Maureen served on the Wheelchair Sports USA Board of Directors as the Secretary from 1990-1994 and Treasurer from 1983 to 1994. She was also the Chairperson of the Credential Committee and was a Regional Games organizer for the Appalachian Games. Maureen also was an official for weightlifting and field events.
In addition to the other contributions, Maureen was the Chairperson of the Youth Committee for the US Organization of Disability Associations.
