Randy’s vitae is the stuff of dreams. No one athlete has matched his accomplishments to date.

He was the only athlete in history compete in three different Paralympic competitions in three different sports and win medals in each sport. Randy has represented the United States seven times in wheelchair basketball, competed in a 1500 meter exhibition race at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, held past national track records in four events and won ten US Open singles wheelchair tennis trophies.

Because of his achievements, Randy received the Paralympic torch from President Bill Clinton in Washington DC for the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta.

Off the court and competition field, Randy was a seasoned journalist publishing three books (Wheelchair Tennis: Myth to Reality; 102 Wheelchair Tennis Drills; and Pushing Forward-A Memoir of Motivation) and producing the award winning video “Turning Point”.

Randy has held position on many boards and committees, that have included the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and was the Honorary Chairperson for the Barbara Jordan Awards. He was employed by St. David’s, Baylor Medical and Lakeshore Hospitals, providing outreach and recreational programming for people with disabilities. He also started the f i r s t wheelchair tennis camps in the world.

Randy’s commitment to reaching out to diverse populations separated him from his peers.
