Young Athletes Can Apply for The Tatyana McFadden Award For Upcoming Adaptive Sports Competitions
Young athletes with a disability, between 4-18 years old, who plan on competing at any of the Move United sanctioned competitions in 2024 can apply for The Tatyana McFadden award.
The award, named after one of the world’s most accomplished athletes, provides up to $500 of travel support to youth athletes, thanks to generous support from Tatyana McFadden and the DICK’s Sporting Good Foundation which helps under-resourced nonprofit organizations provide opportunities for youth to play sports nationwide.
Applicants must:
-Register and compete at a Move United Sanctioned Competition and/or The Hartford Nationals during the 2024 season
-Have an eligible impairment as defined by the International Paralympic Committee and be classifiable
-Be 18 or younger on 7/20/2024
-Submit only one application per athlete for the 2024 competition season
-Request no more than $500 for travel related expenses, which the applicant is responsible for making
-Submit application via the Move United Hub by February 9, 2024
-Complete a very brief 2-4 sentence survey within ten days after the competition.
HOW TO APPLY
The Tatyana McFadden Competitor Award is open to all Move United Individual Members. To learn more about Move United Individual Membership, please visit our membership website. Parents are encouraged to set up a youth membership account and then apply for the award. The Tatyana McFadden Competitor Award recognizes future elite adaptive athletes and provides financial support for travel costs to select summer adaptive sports competition. Several awards will be granted in 2024.
