Player Eligibility
The USAWFL is committed to the inclusion of a variety of ability levels and health conditions.
Participation requirements:
- Adults Age 18+
- Active Duty Military or Veteran (not required)
- Presence of a physical disability is not required for participation, however, there are classification implications for “Able bodied athletes”.

Competitive Team Tryouts
What are the Competitive Team Tryouts and how do they work?
The LA Chargers Wheelchair Football Team want all athletes of any ability level to participate and enjoy the benefits of engaging in the sport of football. The practice team roster does not have a player cap, however, the competitive travel tournament roster does – 14 players.
Late Spring will start competitive team tryouts, more information to come.
Tournament Structure and Attendance
The LA Chargers Wheelchair Football Team will attend their first completive season tournaments in the 2024 Season! Below are some FAQs regarding tournaments.
How long is the tournament season?
- The USAWFL Competitive season spans August through October.
- The USAWFL Post Season Championship is typically hosted early the following year.
How many Tournaments do teams attend?
- Teams will attend at minimum 2 tournaments during the competitive season
How long are the tournaments?
- Tournaments consist of 2 days of gameplay – Saturday and Sunday
- The first sets of games on Saturday typically kicks off at 8:00 AM and the final game wraps up typically by 5:00 PM.
- The first sets of games on Sunday typically kicks off at 8:00 AM and the tournament wraps up typically by 2:00 PM.
How many games do teams play during tournaments?
- Teams will typically compete in 4 – 5 games during the weekend depending on performance.
Where are tournaments hosted?
- All over the country!
- Past tournaments have been located in: Chicago, IL, Tampa Bay, FL, Las Vegas, NV, and Buffalo, NY.
How many teams attend a tournament?
- 8 Teams from around the country come together to compete!
