Military Adaptive Sports Resource Guide

The Military Adaptive Sports Resource Guide is a comprehensive adaptive sports guide for our Move United Warfighters. This guide will show you sport programs and resources available nationally for wounded warriors with permanent physical disabilities.

Adapted Cycling Instructor’s Manual

Cycling offers numerous benefits and thanks to the variety of bikes, trikes, and tandems available, is accessible to almost everyone. This manual is designed to help those facilitating cycling programs understand the needs of individuals with disabilities, offering guidance on different types of adaptive cycles and how to run a successful inclusive cycling program. It includes tips for matching individuals to the right bike based on their abilities, strengths, and goals.

Adapted Mountain Biking Program Development and Delivery Guide

Adaptive mountain biking (aMTB) uses equipment, instruction, and environmental selection to enable people with disabilities to participate in mountain biking. The sport can range from a first experience on a smooth, accessible trail to advanced technical riding, competition, long-distance rides, and independent participation.

The program development and delivery guide can help providers start, strengthen, and sustain aMTB programs. Topics addressed include rider assessment, equipment selection, terrain, volunteer preparation, risk management, program planning and more.

The Inclusive 5K Guide

This guide provides a start to finish framework around how to work with 5k race organizers to include participants of all abilities.

One of the keys to any successful inclusive and accessible event is the concept of universal design in planning and execution. This means creating an event that works for the widest range of participants from the beginning, rather than making accommodations only after someone encounters a barrier. For an inclusive 5K, accessibility extends beyond the course to every part of the participant experience.
