The Move United Education Conference invites sport professionals, sport providers and athletes to come together for informative education & awareness sessions and hands-on skills-based learning workshops.  With the success of our Virtual Move United Education Conferences, reaching over 2,000 people, we are excited to bring our attendees back together, at an in-person networking opportunity.

 

Join your fellow professionals and emerging leaders in the in the sport and recreation industry who are currently creating or are looking to create opportunities for athletes with disabilities. Historically, attendees have represented a variety of affiliations including Move United member organizations, general sport organizations, city parks & recreation departments, non-governing bodies, VA hospital staff, general hospital therapists, disability resource groups, and more.

 

The 2022 Move United Education Conference provides the tools and training to address stigma and stereotypes specific to disability sport.  We know that sport has the power to instill change.  Incite action and make an impact around inclusion, access and belonging.

 

Check out the full schedule of thought provoking session topics which address accessibility systems, adaptive equipment and technology, inclusive organizational infrastructure and social constructs to challenge ableistic culture.

Who should attend?

This event is appropriate individuals of all experience levels working with individuals with disabilities in the sport space.  Anyone wishing to acquire new skills, refresh their skills or investigate new topics and conversations are encouraged to attend. Additionally, students and others wishing to explore the field and network are welcome.

There will be sessions open to individuals of all backgrounds and experiences.

Is this event appropriate only for those working in the adaptive sports industry?

Not at all! The conference will have sessions for individuals of all backgrounds and experiences.

I have attended Move United Conferences in the past, should I come again?

Absolutely! While there are a few familiar faces among our team of presenters, all of the presentations and workshops will be new for the 2022 conference. Attending the conference each year will help you make progress on your professional development goals and expand your network.

Will CEUs be offered for these sessions?

Yes! Sessions pre-approved for NCTRC as well as BlazeSports CARSS continuing education credits will be noted in the curriculum.

 

If I attend the conference, will I have to attend only one track?

While the tracks exist to guide attendees, attendees are able to attend any sessions they would like. Attendees absolutely may attend sessions throught the day(s) that are on varying tracks.

I am no longer able to attend the conference. Is it possible to receive a refund for my registration?

Yes, refunds will be available through April 8th. If you are seeking a refund, please reach out to Cayla Hammaker at chammaker@moveunitedsport.org.

Will transportation be provided to conference attendees?

Limited transportation will be available for conference associated events:

May 9th – Opening reception at Olympic & Paralympic Museum 5:30pm – 7:30pm

  • Move United will have several vehicles making transporation rounds to/from the Olympic & Parlaympic Museum beginning at 5pm, departing just outside the main entrance at the DoubleTree. The last bus will depart from the museum back to the hotel at 7:30pm.
  • Please note that with driver and vehicle shortages across the hospitality industry, we ask for your patience as there may be a slight wait if you are utilizing this transportation.

May 9th – Introduction to ParaDance Sport at Olympic & Paralympic Training Center 9:00am – 12:00pm

  • Move United will provide transportation to/from the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center from the DoubleTree. If enrolled in this workshop, please look for an email this week with additional logistical details.

May 9th – Introduction to Adaptive Tennnis at Olympic & Paralympic Training Center 1:00pm – 4:00pm

I see that conference attendees are required to be fully vaccinated in order to attend the conference. What is the definition of fully vaccinated?

Move United requires that all attendees be compliant with the Center for Disease Control & Prevention’s (CDC) definition of fully vaccinated. The CDC states that an individual is considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after either their second dose of Pfizer-BioNtech/Moderna or their initial dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen.

 

Will food be provided at the conference?

Attendees will be responsible for the majority of their meals. There is a restaurant in the hotel, in addition to a Starbucks. There is additionally a Target across the parking lot from the DoubleTree. Please note that complimentary breakfast is not provided by the DoubleTree. Breakfast is available, however, for a fee.

Move United will provide food at the following occasions:

  • Passed hors-d’œuvres at the Opening Reception at the Olympic & Paralympic Museum Monday, May 9th 5:30pm – 7:30pm
  • Assorment of foods at lunch Tuesday, May 10th 12:00pm – 1:30pm and Wednesday, May 11th 12:30pm – 2:00pm

 

Can I attend a pre-conference workshop without attending the entire conference?

Yes! If you anticipate registering for only a pre-conference workshop, please reach out to Cayla Hammaker at chammaker@moveunitedsport.org for instructions on how to register. You will be charged only the rate of the pre-conference workshop.

I would like to bring a guest to the Opening Reception at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum on Monday May 9th. How should they register?

Please reach out to Cayla Hammaker at chammaker@moveunitedsport.org if you know somebody that is interested in attending only the opening reception. Cayla will provide registration instructions. The guest will be charged $25 to help cover the expense of food & meeting space costs.

When should I plan to arrive at the Education Conference?

If attending a pre-conference workshop, please plan to arrive in time for the start of your workshop. Aside from the pre-conference workshops, the first conference event will be the Opening Reception the evening of Monday, May 9th 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Olympic & Paralympic Museum. Registration and Event Check-In will also be available at the DoubleTree on Monday, May 9th. Conference sessions will then run from 9am – 5:30pm on both Tuesday, May 10th and Wednesday, May 11th.

Where can I find event check-in details?

An event check-in table will be set up in the DoubleTree’s meeting space at the following times:

Sunday, May 8th 2pm – 5pm
Monday, May 9th 8am – 5pm
Tuesday, May 10th 7:30am – 5pm
Wednesday, May 11th 7:30am – 1:00pm

Please note that you must be checked in to the conference in order to partipate in any conference related events. Remember to bring either a physical or electronic copy of your vaccination card to event check-in. Please note that masks are strongly encouraged for this event.

Will session materials (slide decks, handouts, etc.) be available prior to the session?

Yes, session materials will be uploaded to the event app as they are submitted by presenters. You may access the session materials by finding the session directly in the event app.

    • No, this is not a joke! We are unfortunately experiencing some technical difficulties and appreciate you adapting alongside us
  • Log in in using the name & email with which you registered for the event and the verification code sent to your email
    • You should be taken directly to the Education Conference app
  • If you have previously attended The Hartford Ski Spectacular and see the real Ski Spec app. Please go to “Profile” -> Switch Event to the Move United Education Conference.

To build your event agenda:

  • After you log in, navigate to “Schedule” -> Select the “All Sessions” tab at the top right of your screen
  • Click on the day you wish to attend and click the “+” to add that session to your schedule and will automatically add you as an attendee for that session.
  • You can view your personalized schedule by selecting “My Schedule” in the top left of your screen. This will reflect the sessions which you have just selected.
  • If you want to delete a session, just unclick the red checkmark next to the session.
