VA 2024-2025 ADAPTIVE SPORTS GRANT MEMBER ORGANIZATION PARTNER APPLICATION

VA 2024-2025 ADAPTIVE SPORTS GRANT MEMBER ORGANIZATION PARTNER APPLICATION

The Department of Veterans Affairs recently announced a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the 2024-2025 Adaptive Sports Program for disabled Veterans.  For more than 10 years, Move United has been awarded large scale awards under this grant program.

Move United’s proven grant and fiscal management experience, industry reputation, and scale gives us a strong platform from which to apply again and support our member organizations by providing access to funding. At this time, we are inviting Move United member organizations in good standing to participate in our VA 2024-2025 Adaptive Sports Program application.

Please note: This adaptive program grant opportunity is separate to the invitation for member organizations to apply to host instructor training and education events under a second VA training focused application (announcement sent separately).

Grant Information and Criteria

  • Eligible member organizations and in good standing are invited to apply
  • Member organization must currently serve disabled Veterans and members of the Armed Services (from any era of service)
  • Eligible adaptive sport programs include:
    • Winter, summer, year-round recreational event/programs
    • Competition events
    • Up to 2 events/programs/competitions per organization can be submitted for consideration. Each deliverable can include more than one program (sport, recurring camp/event)
  • Program dates: October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025
  • Grant amount: Historically, grants between $3,000 and $15,000 for each program have been awarded, but larger and smaller grants are awarded depending on the program scope and impact (# of Veterans served and program days provided). Keep in mind, the grant amount may not cover the full cost of the event/program and only up to 20% of the grant funds can be for travel costs (airfare, lodging, meals, etc.)  We do not ask for a budget in the application for this reason as a set portion of the grant award will be based on these factors.
  • Previous grant performance will be be an important consideration.  If your organization has a history of incomplete or late reporting you may be excluded from the application based on this.
  • Each year more applications are received from our member organizations and the application pool becomes more competitive. Member organizations are welcome to apply directly with the VA, especially those who serve a large number of veterans and need more funding. To ensure there are no application conflicts that would impact either of efforts, we ask that if a member organization plans to apply for their own VA adaptive sports grant, please do not submit a Move United application.
  • Applying through Move United does not guarantee funding for your programs. Those selected to receive funding may not receive notification until shortly before the grant period; typically, the VA notifies Move United by September.

Application process

  1. Complete the sports program* form below and include a Support Letter, no later than Friday, March 1, 2024, 12am PT.  A signed support letter from your organization (on letterhead) is mandatory to participate in this opportunity.
  2. Providing Partner Organization Support Letter that you engage with are advantageous, but not mandatory.
  3. Member Organizations that provide written support letters will be named (pending review) in our grant application as adaptive sports providers. If we are successful in securing a grant, your Member Organization will be awarded funding for the program(s) you submit and are approved for by the VA, bearing in mind final awards will be entirely dependent on the grant amount received and any specifications set forth by the VA.
  4. Let us know if your organization plans to submit programs directly (or through another partnering organization) to the VA ASG program. We are supportive of any other applications you plan to submit, and this is important for us to know so we can avoid submitting any duplicate programs which would negatively affect you.

*Member organizations may apply under both Move United’s program and training grant applications.
