“Sport means everything. There is so much benefit that can be taken away from sport.” - U.S. Marine Corps LCPL Adam McCann
McCann was wounded in Iraq in 2005 by shrapnel from enemy mortar explosions to his neck and both legs. His left Achilles tendon was cut in two places and his right tibialis anterior was severed.
During his recovery, he was introduced to adaptive sports. McCann enjoys cycling, but his passion is for scuba diving. He appreciates how it allows him to focus on controlled breathing techniques that help improve his mental health.
As a Move United Warfighter Ambassador, Adam has participated in several events and competitions including Ski to Sea and Colorado Discover Ability Rafting programs. McCann also competed at the UCO Endeavor Games.
