I was injured in Afghanistan in 2012, resulting in the loss of my right hand and vision in my left eye, and while recovering at Walter Reed Hospital I took a trip to Ski Spectacular and learned how to snowboard. I did really well that year and was invited back the next year to participate in the race camp. I loved racing and found a new way to harness the energy I had to continue to do the things I loved before I was injured and to show that anything is possible through adaptation and perseverance.
