I served in the United States Air Force and was medically discharged in 2006. I am 100% service connected. I am a military sexual assault survivor. In addition to having PTSD, I also have lymphedema/lipedema that causes my legs to swell and injuries to my feet, ankles, knees, hips, lower back, neck, and a I have a mild TBI. I was medically discharged from the Air Force after I developed lympedema/lipedema in my legs and injured my feet and ankles. After returning to the United States, I learned about adaptive sports while in college, specifically adaptive cycling, which allowed me to take back my life and start living an active lifestyle, and I completely changed my life for the better. Since the first bike ride I did, I have participated in kayaking and other adaptive sports. I also have attended a military-veteran paralympic sports camp. I have also gotten involved in quine therapy and horseback riding, I have found peace and connection through the power of sport! Through the farm that I volunteer with, I have learned how horses can help veterans and any individuals who have experienced trauma to find a healthy outlet.
