Football involves close, sustained contact between participants with the high probability that respiratory particles will be transmitted between participants, but risk can be mitigated through adherence to proper safety procedures. To that end, we encourage all wheelchair football teams to create a comprehensive plan for return to play for your athletes to help ensure the safety of your athletes as best as you can.
Below are items you should take into consideration when creating those plans, as well as a proposed phased plan for re-starting practice. Each phase of reopening should be guided by local and national CDC guidance, testing availability and current health trends in your area, as well as special precautions around generally shared equipment, such as helmets, footballs and program wheelchairs.
To ensure the safety of the Move United Junior Nationals community consisting of athletes, coaches, officials, classifiers, staff, volunteers, supporters and spectators, COVID protocols and prevention measures will be put into place to reduce the risk of acquiring COVID-19. No plan can guarantee that an individual will not contract COVID-19. These protocols and prevention measures are intended to mitigate the spread of the virus but not guarantee individuals will not be exposed to or contract COVID-19. Move United and our event partners are committed to minimizing the risk to allow for a safe, fun, and competitive experience for the community. It is the responsibility of everyone onsite to protect their own health, as well as the health of the community.
As programs consider returning to in-person programming, many are finding pre-assessment essential to a safe and efficient program. Whether re-tooling existing virtual protocols or starting from scratch, this resource guide is designed to give you some general tools that can help minimize risk and maximize the experience for participants, staff, and volunteers. This resource guide will focus on three main areas: Participant Pre-Assessment, On-Site Programming Protocols, and Communications.

You can. Vaccination cards are not protected medical information, therefore HIPPA does not pertain.
Currently the Move United Release of Liability Waiver includes a section that addresses COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. At this time it does not include any information about COVID-19 vaccinations.
As the decision as to whether a vaccine is required for participation is left to individual member organizations to make, we do not anticipate such a clause or declaration will be added to the Move United waiver. If this is something your program may institute and wish to have a clause or declaration be signed by individuals as proof of vaccination, then it must be developed separate of the Move United Release of Liability Waiver.
