The Hartford Human Achievement Award

Calling all athletes! The Hartford Human Achievement Award will be given to one athlete at each of the five Move United Sanctioned Competitions that are a part of The Hartford Adaptive Sports Competition Series. The award is given to an athlete, nominated by their peers, who serves as an advocate for the adaptive sports movement and inspires others as a role model.

 

The Hartford Adaptive Sports Competition Series:

  1. Texas Regional Games In Partnership With The Hartford
  2. Gateway Games In Partnership With The Hartford
  3. Desert Challenge Games In Partnership With The Hartford
  4. Great Lakes Games In Partnership With The Hartford
  5. The Hartford Nationals conducted by Move United

 

Eligibility

The Hartford Human Achievement Award is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico who are at least thirteen (13) years old at the time of entry and who are competing at the competition at which the Award is being given out. Athletes may be nominated by their peers, coaches, or event staff and the winner will be selected by a committee consisting of an athlete representative from The Hartford as well as individuals from the Move United staff.

 

Criteria for athlete nominated:

  1. Serves as an advocate for human achievement through adaptive sports – lending their support and encouragement to other athletes, serving as a role model within the adaptive sports community, focuses on what they can achieve versus perceived limitations
  2. Exhibits commitment, persistence, discipline to their sport
  3. Competed in the competition at which they are being nominated. Athletes may be nominated for multiple competitions but may only be selected at one event.
  4. Must be in attendance for award presentation on site at competition.
  5. Ineligible if a recipient of The Hartford Human Achievement Award in 2022 or 2023
  6. Must not be considered part of Team USA (cannot be a current member of your NGB’s national team and receiving funding from your NGB). This award is intended for grassroots athletes who have not yet competed at the elite international level.
  7. Must be willing to share your story with media

 

Nominations will be accepted through the deadlines listed below for each competition.

  1. Texas Regional Games In Partnership With The Hartford: Friday, April 12th at 11:59pm PST
  2. Gateway Games In Partnership With The Hartford: Friday, May 3rd at 11:59pm PST
  3. Desert Challenge Games In Partnership With The Hartford: Friday, May 17th at 11:59pm PST
  4. Great Lakes Games In Partnership With The Hartford: Friday, May 31st at 11:59pm PST
  5. The Hartford Nationals: Tuesday, July 2nd at 11:59pm PST

 

Athletes – We encourage you to ask friends and family to nominate you but note if you are soliciting nominations, please limit your request to up to two family members/friends and up to two teammates/coaches. Thank you!

Award

The chosen recipient of The Hartford Human Achievement Award for each of the five competitions will receive the following:

  1. $2,500 grant in furtherance of their athletic pursuits in adaptive sports
  2. Photo with World Champion athlete
  3. VIP gift bag
