I am looking to become a certified instructor or increase my knowledge, can I attend the event?

Yes, the Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy is for anyone who wants to learn more about adaptive snowsports instruction. For more information, please see Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy. Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy offers on snow and classroom-based clinics across all disciplines and skill levels. This is a valuable training resource for instructors interested in becoming certified, but please note there are no certification/exam opportunities offered as part of the Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy curriculum. You can learn more about adaptive ski instructor certifications on the PSIA-AASI website and find a local chapter of Move United to start volunteering in your community.

Can I attend Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy clinics if I have a disability?

Clinics can be mentally and physically demanding. If you have a disability and require accommodations in order to fully participate, please contact Cayla Hammaker to discuss your specific needs: chammaker@moveunitedsport.org or 240-268-5373.

I am trying to sign up for Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy clinics and some that I want to attend are full.  What should I do?

Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy clinic registration is on a first come, first serve basis and some of the clinics do fill quickly. We recommend registering early to ensure your first choice of clinics. Most clinics will reach capacity prior to event. We will be monitoring clinic registration to determine what clinics we are able to expand, so stay tuned for potential schedule changes to be announced prior to October 31.

There is no wait list for full clinics. Thanks for your understanding and flexibility, we will do our best to accommodate changing schedules at a later date if needed.

Spaces may become available if participants cancel. You can check the clinic again at a different time to see if a space has become available. All fees must be paid in full prior to/within 24 hours of participation in a clinic. You may choose to be on Stand By at the clinic meeting location in order to attend in the clinic in the event of a no-show. Please note, being on Stand By does not guarantee you will be able to attend the clinic!

I signed up for a Two-Day Workshop with the Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy.  Do I need lift tickets for both days?  How much time will be spent on snow versus in the classroom?

Instruction will be provided on snow and in the classroom at the discretion of the clinician. We recommend pre-purchasing discounted full day lift tickets with your online registration for the best savings. Half day lift tickets are available for sale on site only, in the afternoon only, and Ski Spectacular event discounts do not apply.

I missed the window for pre-event online registration for Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy clinics. Can I register on site?

Registration will be available on site at Continuing Education Administration Dec 3 1:00-6:00pm, Dec 4-6 7:30am-5:00pm, and Dec 7 7:30am-1:00pm. Please note that clinics tend to fill during online pre-registration. Enrollment in clinics on site is not guaranteed.

Can I be refunded for event?

Unfortunately, no. Refunds, including those for sickness, are not available once registration closes. This includes registration fees, lift tickets, banquet tickets, and Ski Spectacular Instructor Academy clinic fees.

Where can I find event photographs?

You are welcomed to view and/or purchase photographs from the event at Move United’s Flickr, Ken Watson Event Photos or Reed Hoffman Event Photos

What special guests will be in attendance?

Each year at The Hartford Ski Spectacular, we welcome a special group of individuals that have sustained a recent life changing disability. With a large number of members of our armed services returning with permanent disabilities, we have been honored to serve service men and women as part of the Move United Warfighter Program. For more information, click here.

Another group of special guests are the Race Camp Development Scholarship recipients. These young racers are given the opportunity to attend a full week of the Race Camp and learn from the best disabled skiers, snowboarders and coaches in the country who help them reach their dreams.

What if I have altitude sickness or another medical emergency?

Information on altitude sickness can be found here.

You should immediately dial 911 to respond to any urgent medical emergency, contact Ski Patrol or the Breckenridge Medical Center at 970-453-1010.

Can you help me with transportation?
