Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES) is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to support our adaptive sports programs. This individual will be the primary point of contact for all volunteers, facilitating communication, recognition activities, and maintaining accurate volunteer records. The Volunteer Coordinator will also work closely with Program Supervisors, and management staff to support the operational needs of the organization, including volunteer scheduling, training and special event support.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting volunteers and facilitating their involvement in our mission. This position requires excellent communication and time management skills, as well as experience working with volunteers or in program/event coordination. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and shares our commitment to serving individuals with disabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Coordination

  • Be the primary point of contact, champion, and resource for all volunteers at DSES, and the primary go-to for the DSES team in regard to volunteer participation.
  • Initiate and facilitate volunteer recruitment, recognition, and volunteer events.
  • Develop new strategies to increase volunteer retention, recognition, and loyalty.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various volunteer groups within the organization.
  • Ensure accurate volunteer shift sign-ups, voucher tracking, and hours tracking.
  • Assist in volunteer scheduling and training, working with program supervisors and management staff to ensure support for lessons and events.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and consistent communication to volunteers, athletes, families, donors, and guests.
  • Maintain volunteer records in our cloud-based database Salesforce.
  • Review and verify all required documentation, including applications, liability releases, background checks, and certification records, to ensure volunteers meet organizational compliance standards.
  • Issue and maintain records for volunteer benefits, such as lockers, uniforms, and season passes, ensuring all documentation is up to date and accurate

Program Support

  • Work closely with program staff and other management staff to ensure all logistical needs are met for daily operations and special events and camps.
  • As the primary point of contact for all volunteer participation, assist program staff and management staff in planning and executing camps and special events, making sure that volunteers are set up for success and performing in a way that best supports the team.
  • Participate in the setup and breakdown of special camps and events.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school graduate required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with volunteers, adaptive sports, or people with disabilities is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM database systems.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, or program management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit at a desk for extended periods.
  • Able to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.

Work Environment and Conditions

  • This role requires flexibility, as it involves office work and collaboration with other departments and populations within Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration are essential, with a focus on positive engagement with volunteers, participants, and donors.

Compensation: $ 20-$26/hour, dependent on experience

Status: Full-Time, Year-Round
