The Opportunity
GLASA is seeking a Program Manager looking for a career in adaptive/para sports programming. The Program Manager will ensure GLASA’s adaptive recreation, Paralympic sports programs, and wellness activities are of the utmost quality and value to athletes who have a physical or visual disability.

Reports to Sr. Program Officer

Weekly Program Management

  • Plan, implement and evaluate GLASA’s adaptive and para sports, recreation and wellness activities including weekly programs, injured military
    programming, clinics, and competitions. Larger programs may have shared responsibility with another Program staff member.
  • Ensure quality delivery of the sport/program objectives.
  • Provide on-going communication with staff, coaches, athletes and family members creating an excellent experience.
  • Work with Program Operations Manager to coordinate facility needs, registration, membership and waivers and any other operational needs to
    support sports and programs.
  • Provide Operations manager with information for team and individual travel for GLASA teams and athletes.
  • Works with Sr. Program Officer to execute program strategy.
  • Provide support for coaches for assigned programs
    • Work collaboratively with the program staff to support and recruit coaches.
    • May provide coaching and instruction for programs and clinics as needed.
    • Assure coaches are up to date regarding certifications, best practices and resources on training, mental health, and nutrition.
    • Work with coaches to offer a continuum of training and competition for the developmental to elite level athletes in a healthy and positive
      environment.
  • Work closely with national governing bodies and other sports organizations to ensure compliance.
  • Work with program staff on one-on-one outreach as well as outreach and education to medical facilities, schools, other adaptive sports’ programs

Management
• Oversee intern programs to include therapeutic recreation and other disciplines.
• Provide supervision to direct reports and guidance to volunteers, part-time staff and coaches of assigned programs

Budget
• Prepare and monitor budget for own programs and programs of direct reports
• Provide updates on programming and budget at Team and Board meetings as needed

Requirements
• Must be able to travel to various sites to administer programs
• 10% out of state travel
• Nights and weekend required
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds including loading trailers for weekly programs and event 2 – 3 times a week move adaptive equipment
• Must be able to drive van/truck with trailer
• Must be able to help with weekend events (10 – 12 annually)

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably in Kinesiology, Adaptive Physical Education, Sports Management, Exercise
Physiology, Therapeutic Recreation or related degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of one year of coaching, leadership and/or programming experience required
• Strong computer skills, including experience with Office products
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work successfully both with a team and independently
• Strong passion to support adaptive and Paralympic sports
