Tierra Learning Center, a Washington non-profit connecting Adults with Developmental Disabilities to nature and community, seeks a dynamic leader to join the management team in a full-time, year-round position as Recreation Program Manager.

About the Organization

Founded in 2013, Tierra Learning Center provides homes and services for people with developmental disabilities in a collaborative and integrated community in which people of all abilities live as equal citizens with full respect for their human rights, freedom and dignity.

Based in beautiful Leavenworth WA on 305 acres, Tierra serves 1200 individuals annually. By joining our dedicated team, the Recreation Program Manager will oversee a wide variety of recreational activities within our current program offerings as well as develop additional programs.

About the Position

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Recreation Program Manager, in collaboration with team members, is responsible for designing, planning, scheduling, delivering, and evaluating Tierra’s programs for adults with developmental disabilities.

Principle duties include:

Manage current day programs which include, but are not limited to art projects, archery, hiking, gardening, cycling, skiing, horseback riding and life skills lessons.
Training, scheduling, assigning, supervising volunteers and staff for the Recreation program.
Develop and manage new adaptive programming and corresponding budget, implementation, and evaluation plans.
Assisting with fundraising, community relations, outreach, marketing, and special events.
Representing Tierra in a positive and professional manner.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

The “Ideal” Program Manager will:

Bachelor’s degree or higher with concentration in recreational therapy.

Have a proven track record of leading, motivating and empowering employees and volunteers.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience program planning, delivery and evaluation providing adaptive sports programs.
Have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, volunteers, participants, donors, and the general public verbally and in writing, as well as make presentations to groups.
Maintain current First Aid and CPR. The right candidate must have their CTRS national certification.
Sometimes may need to work outdoors under inclement weather conditions.
Some weekend work may be required.
Prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Compensation Annual salary range to start at $62,000.00 including private housing, along with health insurance stipend, 2 weeks paid vacation and retirement plan.

Work Schedule Full-time, year-round. Hours and days vary to meet each program delivery schedule.
