Dayne Law

Dayne Law is a social worker, queer/transgender man, Coast Guard veteran, kayaker, river guide, and lifelong water sports enthusiast. In 2002, Dayne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Living with a neurological disorder brought new challenges, but along the way, Dayne found that his passion for paddling could help him on his journey to healing and wellness. Dayne discovered his purpose by devoting some of his time to serve other veterans with disabilities through volunteering with Team River Runner as an adaptive paddling instructor, chapter leader, and as a member of their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

In his social work practice, Dayne has worked with many underserved communities as an educator, advocate, and policy advisor. All of Dayne’s work in social work and volunteering with veterans with disabilities has led him to understand that in order to serve clients and veterans well, individuals must have their psychosocial needs met. Inclusion and belonging are both critical needs necessary for people to thrive in their communities. When an individual is able to thrive, true healing can begin.

Dayne believes that ALL people regardless of identity, ability, or status deserve equitable access and the opportunity to participate fully in sports and outdoor recreation. Dayne has committed to continue to examine his own implicit biases as well as reflect on his areas of privilege and is on a personal quest for social justice in the communities that he is a part of. Dayne currently lives in Boise, Idaho.
