Phil Galli

Phil Galli began volunteering in Para track and field and swimming when his oldest daughter, Jessica, was injured in a car accident and became interested in Para sport at a young age. He began his coaching career working with Jessica as she moved along the pipeline to her first of 4 Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia in 2000 and then expanded his involvement by volunteering as a coach with a youth adaptive sports program in New Jersey. Annually, Phil officiates and serves as track, field or meet referee at many Para meets across the country. For the past 8 years, he has served as Track and Field meet referee at the Move United Junior Nationals. In 2018 Phil was honored to receive the USATF President’s award, for working with the USATF Para committee to run the USATF Para Youth Track and Field Championship. Internationally, Phil is a member of the International Amputee and Wheelchair Society (IWAS) International Game Committee running multisport competition all over the world. In this capacity Phil serves as the Para Swimming Meet Referee.

Off the field of play, Phil has served as Chairman of Adaptive Track and Field USA, since 2008, which sets the para track and field standards and rules for youth athletes under 14 years of age and masters athletes. Additionally, Phil chairs the US Paralympics’ Para Officials Committee.

The Competition Committee includes a diverse representation of voices from the competition space. The group’s focus is on how Move United can better serve athletes in competition and support event directors currently hosting competition and those interested in hosting competition in the future.
