Teresa Skinner

Teresa Skinner is the Executive Director of ParaSport Spokane, a non-profit program that she started in 2013. She also started the adaptive sport program at a local rehab hospital in 1995 and helped run that program until 2012. She was part of the wheelchair racing coaching staff for the past 4 Paralympic Games (2008 Beijing, 2012 London, 2016 Rio, 2020 Tokyo) as well as a coach for numerous other World Championship teams, Jr. World teams and Parapan Am teams. She is the wheelchair racing coach for the US Air Force Wounded Warrior program and has coached at the last 5 Warrior Games, and last 3 Invictus Games.

Teresa attended Eastern Kentucky University from 1989-1993 to pursue her degree in Occupational Therapy, which she continues to do in various settings: Community Rehab, Outpatient pediatric, Outpatient Seating and Positioning, and school districts. As the volunteer ED of ParaSport Spokane, she is passionate about increasing sport and recreation opportunities for all people with a physical disability, in addition to improving overall awareness about Para sport. She witnessed first-hand, the poor support and spectator attendance at the Atlanta Paralympic Games, and is driven to help change the culture in the US. With the goal to increase awareness, respect for the para athlete and thereby insuring, sold out crowds in LA 2028!

  • Competition Committee

The Competition Committee includes a diverse representation of voices from the competition space. The group’s focus is on how Move United can better serve athletes in competition and support event directors currently hosting competition and those interested in hosting competition in the future.
