Move United Member Organization Salary Survey

Move United recognizes that as the leader in the adaptive sports and recreation industry, we must assist our group member organizations in providing benchmarks for business standards, including employment salaries. We strive to help provide meaningful resources and benefits to our member organizations. This report aims to provide salary and compensation trends among Move United member organizations. The Move United Member Services team plans to collect data and publish this report every three years. Please note that salary and compensation philosophies may differ from organization to organization, based on a variety of factors. Factors such as location, management, and overall business operations must be considered when making decisions about salary and compensation structures.

We are excited to launch the second Salary and Compensation Survey!

The information and data collected will be utilized to help determine the industry salary rates among our member organizations. This information will be shared with Move United Member Organizations through mean and median rates of pay utilizing a range of measures. Please answer these questions based on your most recent completed fiscal year. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete.

Entry Level Position defined: This role is defined as a support staff such as administrative assistant, office staff, program assistants, guide, instructor or other similar positions. They do not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. Position performs a variety of skilled administrative and program duties directly related to program management activities. Examples of duties include maintaining databases, preparing routine correspondence, providing customer service to clients; and assisting and participating in program events.

Mid-Level Position defined: This role is defined as a coordinator or specialist in an organization. They may have some supervisory responsibilities for other paid staff members and/or volunteers. These individuals have increased responsibilities than entry level positions. However, they have direct supervision from a manager level position. Examples of duties may include training and onboarding new volunteers, coordinating the program schedule and direct programming responsibilities.

Manager Level Position defined: This role is defined as a manager of an area at your organization. They have oversight of a program and typically supervisory expectations for coordinators, supervisors, and assistants in their department. This position provides overall management and supervision to program(s) including supervision of staff, developing/controlling the budget, developing/implementing policies and procedures, coordinating/integrating program with others internal and external to the organization.

Director Level Position defined: This role is described as the Director of a department in your organization. This position provides overall management and direction to one or more large programs including management of mid-level staff, developing the budget, and participating in obtaining funds/grants. Typically, this position reports to the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, is a member of the senior executive team and directly or indirectly manages staff.

Development and Fundraising Position Defined: This role is defined as the staff who work exclusively on fundraising and development as it pertains to your organization. Please note that this is specific to the highest level of development or fundraising position in your organization. Other support roles would fall into the other positions described above. This position provides leadership to the organization’s efforts to obtain financial and other support to sustain its work, including planned, annual and deferred giving, approaches to individuals, foundations and corporations. Duties include managing the overall marketing and promotional functions to construct and market an appropriate image, developing ties with the community, achieving membership/participation goals and managing department budgets. May report to the Executive Director/CEO.
