Why is Inclusion Important?

Group of children with hands raised in gymnasium with teacher

If we don't include people, they might feel left out and lonely and when you are excluded you can feel like you aren't enough.

We have to include everyone because people want to be treated as you want to be treated.

Inclusion is important because when you include someone with a disability it will make a game more unique and diverse and they are also people like us.

Because people with disabilities deserve to hang out with anybody. Besides, they are just the same as other kids.

FAQs

What is Move United's Inclusive Playbook?

Move United’s Inclusive Playbook (sometimes referenced as IPB) is an educational workbook which aims to educate children on disability awareness through the lens of adaptive sport. The workbook is made up of two parts – the Inclusive Playbook (pages 1-19), designed for children in grades 3-6, and the Inclusive Playmat (pages 20 + 21), designed for children in grades K-2.

Who Should Use Move United's Inclusive Playbook?

The Inclusive Playbook was designed to build awareness and conversation around disability at an early age. Therefore, anyone who works with youth including teachers, coaches, youth leaders, after-school caretakers, parks & recreation professionals, families, etc. can use the resources available in a way that best works for their learning setting!

How Was the Inclusive Playbook Created and Reviewed for Credibility?

Move United’s Inclusive Playbook was developed and reviewed over a two year period based on a need identified from our athletes, members and larger network. The Playbook was brought to life through the involvement of K-12 educators, higher education professionals, adaptive sports providers, NGBs, youth leaders, sports and community leaders and disability advocates. Most important were the many voices from within the disability community that are not only featured in the IPB through the content, quotes and images, but were heavily involved in the creation and review processes to make sure that the disability awareness and etiquette was communicated properly for young kids to understand as well as centering the disabled voice.
