Adaptive Shooting Virtual Matches

The Move United Adaptive Shooting League will host several virtual matches through the Orion system each year. Learn how to get involved.

Virtual Matches

Move United utilizes the Orion Scoring System to host virtual matches. Through Orion, we hold sanctioned air rifle and air pistol matches allowing the opportunity for athletes to compete against others from around the country and work towards gaining National ranking status. The Orion System also generates an analysis of the shooter’s performance, such as shot pattern.

Within the Move United Adaptive Shooting League, organizations around the country are using the Orion system to participate in the monthly virtual matches. For more information on how to get involved in the virtual matches using the Orion Scoring System, please see the instructions below.

Changes in 2025

  1. Air Pistol has been added this season.
  2. The ability to track your military veterans for possible VA funding. (While this is not guaranteed, accurate tracking of your veteran athletes will allow Move United to quickly identify eligible athletes if funding is made available.)
  3. Match hosts, please make sure to correctly assign the Paralympic category to each athlete. For those athletes competing with vision impairment (SH3/VI) please send a spreadsheet list of competitors after each match to Mark Grant (03msgrant@gmail.com) for potential future funding.

Match Details

The air rifle match will consist of a 60 shot prone air rifle match. The air pistol event will consist of a 60 shot standing course of fire. Both events will have options with categories for Paralympic shooting classifications (e.g. Open, SH1, SH2, SH3 (for vision impaired athletes)) and veteran status as outlined below. These selections are to be made on the match competitor tab in the Orion Scoring System desktop software.

Orion virtual shooting league

Participant details are inputted into the Orion software and in turn it prints a barcode for each participant that is attached to their target. After the match is complete, the target is scanned back into the system using the Orion scanner and scored automatically. Orion scans a 12-bull target in 3 seconds and calculates scores and penalties. Orion is completely impartial, so all shooters are evaluated with the same standard.

Whether you have access to an Orion Scoring System or not, you can still compete.

Please complete this Monthly Virtual Match Report each month you compete. It is recommended you complete the Template Participant Report Form fully before you begin the Report.
