Do I Need to have my Proposed Classification Submitted Before I Complete my Season Registration?

No, you do not need to have your proposed classification submitted before you complete your season registration. We encourage athletes to complete their season registration as promptly as possible to mitigate any confusion as it relates to the classification process.

All athletes who plan to compete in the 2026 USA Wheelchair Football League season are required to have their team reviewer submit the required videos and forms by Friday July 17th.

While team reviewers should be responsible for reaching out to athletes, we encourage athletes to also discuss a time for testing with their team’s leadership to ensure they are able to compete in the 2025 season. It is the responsibility of athletes, coaches and team support staff to understand the requirements of the classification rules prior to attending a USA Wheelchair Football League event.

What is the Difference Between Registered and Rostered?

We frequently reference the terms “Registered” and “Rostered” throughout the USA Wheelchair Football League season. They may sound interchangeable but they very different and hold separate, but important meaning.

“Registered”

A Registered individual is an athlete or team support staff who has completed their season registration and waivers, which is the baseline requirement for participation with the USA Wheelchair Football League. We encourage team’s to have anyone who has the potential of participating in the regular and post season to complete their season registration, that way teams can have flexibility when planning and submitting their tournament roster.

“Rostered”

A Rostered individual has completed their registration and is designated to participate in a tournament. If an individual is not registered they cannot be rostered. A team’s roster may change for every tournament if the team needs to adjust their athletes and/or team support staff. All team must adhere to all tournament roster rules and regulations in the current USA Wheelchair Football League Rulebook when submitting their tournament rosters.

What if an Athlete or Team Support Staff Needs to Complete Their Season Registration After the July 31st Deadline?

Any athlete or team support staff  who needs to complete their season registration after July 27th, 2026 must submit a late registration request. This includes any athlete or team support staff who has participated in a previous season.

Step 1: Submit the Late Registration Request

The athlete or team support staff needing to register must send an email directly to Tommy at Tshipeck@moveunitedsport.org with the information outlined below.

  • Explanation of the reason why their 2025 season registration was unable to be completed during the registration window of April 6th, 2026 to July 27, 2026.
  • Any supporting documentation to support their proposed reason

Step 2: Move United Review & Notification of Approval or Denial

Move United will review the late registration request and send notification if the request has been approved or denied. This review process takes on average 3 business days from receipt of the late registration request.

  • If Approved, the athlete or team support staff will receive further instructions to move forward completing their 2026 season registration.
    • 2026 season registration, including waivers must be submitted no later than 15 business days prior to a tournament in order for the athlete and/or team support staff to be eligible to participate.
    • Proposed classification documentation for an athlete must be submitted no later than 20 business days prior to a tournament in order for the athlete to be eligible to participate.
      • If proposed classification documentation is not provided by this deadline, an athlete with a qualifying physical disability for classification would automatically be placed as a class 4. Documentation must be provided prior to the first tournament the athlete will participate in to ensure an opposing team reviewer cross-check can be completed prior to the athlete’s second tournament participation. If documentation is not submitted prior to the tournament, the athlete’s late registration request will be re-opened and denied.
  • If Denied, the athlete or team support staff will receive explanation supporting the decision and further instructions if applicable.
