VA 2021-2022 Adaptive Sports Grant Member Organization Partner Registration

The Department of Veterans Affairs recently announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the 2021-2022 Adaptive Sports Program for Disabled Veterans.  For more than 10 years, Move United has been awarded large scale awards under this grant program.

Move United’s proven grant and fiscal management experience, industry reputation, and scale gives us a strong platform from which to apply again and support our Member Organizations by providing greater access to funding. At this time, we are inviting Move United Member Organizations to participate in our VA 2021-2022 Adaptive Sports Program application.

Please note: this adaptive program grant opportunity is separate to the invitation for Member Organizations to apply to host instructor training and education events under a second VA training focused application (announcement coming soon).

Grant Information and Criteria

  • All Member Organizations levels are welcome to apply
  • Member Organization must currently serve disabled Veterans and members of the Armed Services (from any era of service)
  • Eligible adaptive sport programs include: winter, summer, competitions and year-round activities. More than one program (sport, camp) may be submitted for consideration, but no more than 3 in total
  • Programming can include a combination of in-person and virtual offerings to allow the expanded reach to underserved veterans
  • Program dates: October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022
  • Previous members of ASUSA who submitted competitions or programs for funding should use this form to apply
  • Grant amount: Historically, grants between $5,000 and $15,000 for each program have been awarded, but larger and smaller grants are awarded depending on the program scope and impact (# of Veterans served and program days provided)
  • Previous grant performance will be considered
  • Member Organizations are welcome to apply directly with the VA. To ensure there are no application conflicts that would impact either of our efforts, we ask that if a Member Organization plans to apply for their own VA adaptive sports grant, they do not submit the same sports/programs to include in the Move United application
  • Applying through Move United does not guarantee funding for your programs. Those selected to receive funding may not receive notification until shortly before the grant period due to VA approval.

Application process

  1. Complete the sports program* form below and include a Support Letter, no later than March 8, 2021.  A signed support letter from your organization (on letterhead) is mandatory to participate in this opportunity.
  2. Providing Partner Organization Support Letter that you engage with are advantageous, but not mandatory.
  3. Member Organizations that provide written support letters will be named (pending review) in our grant application as adaptive sports providers. If we are successful in securing a grant, your Member Organization will be awarded funding for the program(s) you submit and are approved for by the VA, bearing in mind final awards will be entirely dependent on the grant amount received and any specifications set forth by the VA.
  4. Let us know if your organization plans to submit programs directly (or through another partnering organization) to the VA ASG program. We are supportive of any other applications you plan to submit, and this is important for us to know so we can avoid submitting any duplicate programs which would negatively affect you.

* Member Organizations may apply under both Move United’s program and training grant applications.
